Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate AEO-9 (MOA-9, Peregal O-9)-CAS 68213-23-0
AEO-9 (Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate 9EO) is the workhorse non-ionic surfactant - the most widely used and versatile ethoxylate in the global chemical industry. Produced through high-pressure ethoxylation of natural C12-14 coconut/palm fatty alcohols with 9 moles of ethylene oxide, it delivers the perfect balance of detergency, emulsification, wetting, and foaming properties.
As the primary active ingredient in over 70% of all liquid laundry detergents worldwide, AEO-9 offers exceptional performance across the broadest range of conditions: hard water tolerant, alkali stable, acid stable, low temperature effective, and fully biodegradable. Its HLB 13.5 makes it the universal oil-in-water emulsifier for industrial and consumer applications.

Key Benefits
✅ Perfect all-around performance: detergency + emulsification + wetting
✅ HLB 13.5 - universal oil-in-water (O/W) emulsifier
✅ Primary active in 70% of all liquid laundry detergents
✅ Exceptional hard water tolerance - works in all water conditions
✅ Excellent alkali stability - stable up to 50% NaOH solutions
✅ Excellent acid stability - stable down to pH 1.0
✅ Low temperature effective - works in cold water washing
✅ Universal compatibility with ALL surfactant classes
✅ Low foam profile - ideal for machine washing
✅ Excellent grease and oil removal performance
✅ Narrow ethoxylate distribution - consistent quality
✅ Low pour point - easy handling above 20°C
Applications

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) & Document Request Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) & Document Request
Q1: Why is AEO-9 frozen solid in winter? How do I handle it?
A: This is NORMAL and expected - no quality issue:
• AEO-9 melting point = 18-22°C
• Below 18°C: Turns to white paste / solid
• Above 22°C: Returns to clear liquid
This is 100% reversible physical change only.
How to melt:
1. Store drum in heated warehouse 25-30°C
2. Or warm drum in 40°C water bath for 4-8 hours
3. Mix well after melting - fully restored to original performance
Never heat above 60°C - may cause oxidation. All AEO manufacturers face this same winter issue.
Q2: How does AEO-9 perform in hard water vs other surfactants?
A: EXCELLENT - far better than anionic surfactants:
• Anionics (LAS, SLES): Precipitate with Ca/Mg ions - lose performance
• AEO-9: NON-IONIC - NO charge interaction with hard water minerals
• Performance retention at 1000 ppm hardness: >95% for AEO-9 vs <50% for LAS
This is why AEO-9 is essential for regions with hard water. It maintains full cleaning power where anionics fail.
